Long story short, I'm being sent to a psychiatrist for depression and to more than likely be given medication for said depression. I'm on Xanax for anxiety right now (as well as some other meds for pain & epilepsy), but here's my question: for those of you whom have tried many different antidepressants, which one has worked best for you?

I don't want to go through trial and error of antidepressants. I've already been through that with other medications and I'm not exactly fond of it, so if I'm going to be prescribed something...I don't know, I feel like I should come in with some sort of knowledge.

You will have to try the different meds, because they work differently on all of us. The side effects are different. I had to try about seven different things. I took one for close to 20 years and then switched again. I hope that you find what works for you quickly and don't have to go through it, but know we all did too, so you aren't alone.

I know I'll probably have to try different meds before I find what's...right...for me, but if there was something that had a good "rating" among the majority, maybe that would give me some sort of head start.

Like I stated before, I'm already on plenty of medications so I know what it's like to have to try out different ones and things like that...I just don't want another pill added to my list.

Danger Dash,

Cymbalta works well for me, however like everyone else it was trial and error. It is rare that your get the med and dose right the first time.

Try to be patient and communicate completely with the doc, don't hold anything back, that will help in chosing the correct med and dose for you.
