I did NeuroStar TMS therapy over three years ago and feel as if it saved my life. After my unsuccessful attempt and hospitalization, the doctors tried several drugs (and combinations of meds) that either didn’t work or the side effects were intolerable. TMS is FDA-cleared, non-invasive, safe, and the best part is I had no side effects. I sat in a comfortable chair watching TV for 40 minutes while the TMS machine delivered MRI-strength magnetic pulses to the left side of my scalp. It felt like a strong woodpecker-like tapping that I got used to and hardly noticed after a few treatments. I drove myself to and from my appointments. There were no side effects like dizziness, headache, upset tummy – nothing. My HAM-D depression scales went from a high 28 down to 0 after six weeks of TMS. Now I go for a single treatment every few months just for maintenance, but I definitely don’t feel the deep dark depression I lived with for so many years. TMS gave me my life back. Since there was no literature available for me to learn about
it when I was debating whether to try TMS, I wrote a book that describes my experience with suicide, failed medical trials, how I won my challenge with
the insurance company to cover it (3,000 Pulses Later: Surviving Depression Without Medication). Btw, more
insurance companies are covering TMS on a case-by-case basis so that’s becoming less of an obstacle. My depression is a chronic illness that I now manage TMS and talk therapy. This isn’t meant to be an ad, but if you want to know more about
my experience, you can read an excerpt from the book at.
Hi Martha, I had to edit your post and remove your site as it leads to a site that is selling your book. I am sorry but we can't do that here.
