Vision problems with mirtazapine?

Hi all - I thought this might be a more appropriate forum to get an answer than the CP one.

Is anyone here on mirtazapine and experienced major issues with their vision? And if so - was it a 'starting out' side effect that has come good over time, or something that has persisted.

My GP has just prescribed it for me. I've had a bad run generally with AD's - I get a lot of paradoxical reactions, more serious depression, agitation, other silly things that a body just shouldn't do. I've been good on duloxetine, but after eight months with almost no night time sleep and just wee cat naps during the day (combination of severe pain and worse insomnia) we decided to make a change.

I started it only last night - and in less than an hour, I could barely see. My vision seemed as though someone had dimmed the lights to the lowest setting and I could see with difficulty that my pupils were tightly constricted. I've had a wee bit of a search online - can find a few references to this happening at high doses - but I'm only taking 15mg.

Obviously I need to catch up with my doctor again as soon as I can - but I'd be reassured, I guess, knowing what others have experienced.

Thanks Trina. I'm going to see him as soon as I can :) It's just - I always seem to get the most daft med side effects, and wondered if anyone else had experienced this as well...or if it's another 'just me' one.
