Daily Check in for All #57

I hear you, JB. Been working on it myself, since June. Down about 15 pounds in 5 months, which is so-so, but better than nothing! I think my meds are playing a role in the slowness of the losses.

Spend some time purging the fridge and cupboards. Working on this can be uplifting~

I hope that it is warm and gooey and had lots of icing! At least I still have my nice hot cup of coffee to enjoy!

A tummy bug is going around. Take it easy-toast, saltines, banana, and weak tea. Stay hydrated.

I slept in this morn until 8 AM! Went to a middle school, today, my second one. Actually, had sixth grade, the same grade but different school than a few days ago, and found the school a little too touchy-feely, follow-your-inner-voice-and-not-directions, indulge the ole free spirit because childhood is beautiful. Either the school is run poorly, or the teacher I was covering for was a wee bit too permissive. Wow. The middle school earlier this week was just fine.

Even though I whine about the mornings, I do feel it's good for me. Builds character, and routine.

However, I will never accept an assignment from that school again. Just, WOW, if I were a parent, I would be very unhappy.

Good morning all .......

   Gizzy had an exciting Thursday staying overnight at the vets ... just to be boarded. There was some major separation anxiety ... but he forgave me last night - somehow sleeping by squeezing next to my legs on a sofa all night long.

   It's nice to be back to normal ... Gizzy's drive this morning was uneventful with just one little 8-pound dog spotted. The bacon,egg and cheese on an english muffin from DD was really good this am - so was the coffee after yesterdays hospital coffee - yuk!

   Looks like it continues to be the time for birthdays. My next door neighbor had her birthday on Thursday ... and brought me over a piece of her birthday cake yesterday.

   November, I believe, is a good month for Alaskan King Crab ... so in a couple of weeks ... lookin forward to picking up some to steam for my birthday.

   Hey Michelle ...... hope this week-end finds you feeling much better and that it's not the meds.

   Hey Myself ....... really surprised to hear that the middle school was civilized. And what is a touchy-feely school?

   Hey Carl ....... ya know those cinnamon buns are loaded with trans fat and will soon be outlawed in the U.S. - and I guess become contraband over the border! Hmmm - could be some lucrative moon-lighting!!!

   Hey Karen ...... there was a rumor that you came back because you miss the snow!

   Hey Cat ...... good to hear about Sammie and the cats ... and about riding in the car is not a problem for him. My last dog couldn't stand the car.

   Hey UA ...... have you driven your new car yet? It doesn't sound like it!!!

   JAMIEE ..... GOOD TO HEAR THERE WAS SOME IMPROVEMENT WITH YOUR EYES ... HOPE IT GETS BETTER YET!

By touchy-feely, I mean a school that had cutesy names for the classes, "blue period" "green period" "Tea Time", and coupons for rewards. Whether you deserve them or NOT. And clearly teachers who endorse the "every trophy for every child".

Yikes. I mean, I do not have children and I don't have much background in primary education, but.... I do not think kids like being babied. It's a hard balance with middle school.

So, the teacher had left word that her low-level class would be a handful. It was team taught, so each teacher would only have 6 at a time in the room. They came in, running wild, I got them sat down, explained I don't call on people without a hand up AND a tush in the seat. I reminded them that if you are talking, you aren't working. The aide came in, and did a double take. I smiled and waved, and she whispered to me, "I have never seen them this focused." This caused a few to look up, and I waved a hand at them, and down their heads went. When we switched, the ring-leader girl yelled at her classmates "Treat her nice, she's cool", and gave me a hug before she left.

Bad behavior is learned. And if you can get away with it, why bother to change your actions?

Those with animals, scratch them for me. Those without, well, figure something out. -wink-

   I can see by your date, sometimes your birthday falls on Thanksgiving! That's pretty special!

   Mine is just early enough to never fall on Thanksgiving! Now I'm depressed!

   This scorpio thing has gotten so out-of-hand .... that I just started a new thread for scorpios ....... and a poll too!

Good Morning Everyone,

 

I spent most of the day yesterday studying. It was a good day, my concentration has gotten a lot better lately.

 

The cats are actually accepting Sammy better than I thought they would. Sammy and Toby are actually playing together.That is a sight to behold! A tiny kitten playing with a dog that is probably 8 times bigger than he is. It scared me at first...... until I realized the kitten started it and the dog was gentle as a lamb. Sammy and I went for a walk yesterday and he tried to pull me along with him until I pulled back on his leash and said heel and he stop and started walking slower. He's a smart dog!

   It was back to business as normal this morning ... although Gizzy is having a hard time sleeping on the floor now. Bright, sunny and mild (for November). We saw three dogs this morning ...... one little rug rat, one big mix (not sure what types) ... and one huge dog - impersonating a Black Bear.

   Ever see a Newfoundland? It has to be close to 150-pounds! All black and head/ears much like a Great Pyraneese.

   Karen ........ see, I was right. You came back for the snow!

   Cat ......... sounds like you made a very good choice with Sammy!

   JAMIEE ........ SAY HELLO TO THE SKIN-HEAD FOR GIZZY!

   Michelle ....... I made a mistake. Your birthday is a couple of days past the Scorpio - or I guess Sagitarius. But ... was right about your birthday being on Thanksgiving at times. I know, since I was a kid - the closest I ever got to Thanksgiving was within one day - I think! But never on Turkey day.

   Myself ........... I always feel so strange writing to myself ... but it's not myself ... but it is myself! Does any of this make any sense? I'm going back to bed!

Today is Family and Football !!! Hubby and I had our boys (23 yrs, 20 yrs, and 16 yrs ) home this morning. :). And an announcement from the oldest...he and his fiance have set a date and reserved the location !!! Next August I ll be a mother in law to a sweet gal I ll be proud to call daughter !

BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE I HAD A CIGGIE!! MINOR VICTORY!!!

Good morning all .........

   It's lookin like a typical November day ... gloomy and 46 degrees at 7am. Not one dog seen on our drive this morning - so Gizzy was howling out of frustration the last mile home. Too many school buses this morning too!!!

   For smokers turned non-smoker:

I actually stopped smoking cigarettes about 12 to 13-years ago ... BUT ... then started smoking cigars - and inhaling those suckers for close to the next 10-years.

   Note to Carl ......... maybe that's why I've been so lonely!!@!!

But then ... I did stop the cigars 3-years ago this past September. It did my COPD a great amount of good. And somehow .... after I stopped smoking, my coffee and beer consumption went down mucho ..... especially the beer.

   So, in addition to it being a healthier style of life ....... dern ........ ahm savin money honey!!!! And .... Gizmo has never been around smoke - neither has my two-year old car ......... kinda nice!!!! 

MORAL OF THE STORY .....

JAMIEE ....... YOU DESERVE A BIG CONGRATULATIONS. TWO WEEKS IS A GOOD START!

Michelle ...... ah know whatcha mean! It was one of the hardest things to do for me - and it was maybe the hardest thing for me to convince of myself - that I needed to do it! You know - mind over matter!~!
