Has anyone used Lamictal??

So I went to my Dr. today and told her I never started the Wellbutrin and we were going over my symptoms and she decided that she thought Lamictal would be the better medicine to take instead of the Wellbutrin, given my symptoms have changed.

It would be great to hear if anyone has taken this in conjunction with other meds and how you did on it.

Hi Amy:  I was on Lamictal a few years ago.  I had been on it for 2-3 years.  It worked very well for me and I took it with Cymbalta.  I know we each react differently to meds but this was definitely a good one for me.

YEAH I AM ON IT. FOR MY BI-POLAR. IT IS FANTASTIC. BEEN ON IT FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. I FOUND IT SLOW TO START BUT IT KICKS MOOD AND DEPRESSION RIGHT IN THE HEAD. I LOVE IT. BEST MED I HAVE BEEN ON AND LET ME TELL YOU I HAVE TRIED NEARLY ALL OF THEM!!! I WISH YOU WELL WITH IT. GIVE IT A CHANCE. I HOPE IT WORKS JUST AS WELL FOR ME AS IT WILL FOR YOU. PS, USE OF CAPS DUE TO VISION IMPAIRMENT, I AM NOT YELLING!!!

Hi there,

I haven't taken lamictal but I do take a mood stabilizer and they do help a lot. I hope that it works for you. As was posted, give it time. And we all react differently on different meds. So your experience will be unique to you.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I can actually say that of all the meds I have tried, I am the least nervous to try this one. I am glad to hear that it has helped those of you that replied! Happy Turtle, no worries...I totally understand, no need to explain! :)

One more question? I am gradually going to work up to 100 mgs. I am starting on 25 mgs for the first 2 weeks, then 50 mgs for the next 2 weeks and then after that a 100mg a day. When do you take your Lamictal, in the morning or before bed?

I take my meds in the morning unless told not to. I haven't had any problems with my mood stabilizer making me sleepy. But if an anti depressant or med makes me sleepy, then I take it at night.

I hope that the lamictal is working well for you. It is nice to have a medication help us to feel better. I hope that you are having a good day.

MORNING AND NIGHT. 400MG MORNING AND 200 AT NIGHT. ALL THE BEST. KEEP POSTING AND LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE GOING.

THE HAPPY TURTLE. PS. YES IT IS USED FOR DEPRESSION AS WELL. I ALIKE YOU STARTED ON SMALL DOES, ACTUALLY I STARTED OFF AT 25MG, WENT TO 50 AND SO ON. THERE IS A BLOOD TEST THAT CAN BE DONE TO CHECK IF YOUR LEVELS ARE IN THE THERAPUTIC RANGE OR NOT.

'SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE' IS MY MANTRA ON THE FORUM, SO SLOW AND STEADY. YOU WILL GET THERE AND FEEL MUCH BETTER.

Yes people use it even if they aren't bipolar. It is used as a mood stabilizer and it helps the antidepressants work better. At least mine does.
