Does this get better? I've been on lexapro for 7 weeks now, working up to 7.5mg and I just don't know how much longer i can take it. I continue to wake up at 4am with that dreaded feeling, no appetite, feeling so sad and depressed (I had one okay week last week and then I crashed). I'm so scared of not pulling out of this. I have kids to raise at home and I'm sinking fast. I don't know what to do. Help.

Talk to your doctor about what is going on. If he feels Lexapro isn't right for you, he/she will change it. I sure do hope that you feel better soon. Keep hanging in there, this is a difficult time of year for everybody...

I emailed my doc this morning. I'm thinking he'll want to up my dose to 10mg. I just thought lexapro would work for me. My doc said he's seen the most success on that med. It takes so long...some people here seem to get results so fast. I'm terrified of changing meds and ending up in a hospital. I would so anything to get better so it's hard waking up every morning wondering if this will be the day I'll feels better and I'm losing hope.

Yea, we are all different so we all have different results with medications. I would give it the full eight weeks, and then see what happens. I really hope that it works for you. Being depressed during the holidays really stinks... Keep posting, as it does help.

I'm really sorry you are going through such a rough time, LynnCha. Lexapro did not help me and I've just weaned off it.

However, many people do really well on this drug, so don't lose hope! I do know what you mean though about it being frustrating when other people get results so fast on a med and we are still left feeling as bad as we did before. But just bear in mind that 7.5 mg is still a very low dose of Lexapro and 7 weeks is not a very long time. So the Lexapro could well still work for you. Really hope it does!!

Also, it sounds like Lexapro is the only anti-depressant you've tried? So don't lose hope because there are lots of others that might still work for you if Lexapro doesn't. I know the thought of changing meds is scary, but it can make a big difference.

Are you having any therapy? I have found it to be helpful.

Dogstsar what dose of lex were you on and how long did you give it? How was the weaning off of it? I am in therapy 2x a week. I know the lex isn't a magic pill but I just would like some relief and not sure how long to give it. I switched back to the pill form this morning after being on the liquid for a week (a few days into the liquid I started to go downhill fast...do you think the liquid could be formulated differently?). What are you on now?
