Hi!
I'm Rori. I'm planning on starting Lexapro tomorrow. my psych doc said do 2.5mg for a week and we'd raise it. I'm nervous because I have GAD and I don't want anxiety but right now I have more depression. I am bipolar and have a whole host of other stuff like PTSD and OCD. I'm concurrently dealing with a vitamin D deficiency which is hell because it is almost like depression x10. anyway, I want to start my Lexapro tomorrow and I was thinking morning because I already take my lithium, gabapentin and Ativan at night. I get anxious if I'm too sleepy. do u think taking it in the morning will work? when would u or do u take it? thanks for your help!!!!!

welcome rori. all the best with lexapro it is a good med and i hope it helps you. remember to give it some time to kick in. best ask your doc when to take it. just to be sure. welcome to the forum. i have rapid cycling bi-polar myself, i too was on lithium but have come of it. i am taking lamictal now. works very well. my mantra in the forum and in life is 'slow and steady wins the race'. take care rori i look forward to hearing how you are doing. keep posting.

ok you guys have given me hope. I haven't taken it yet but maybe I'll just pop it in right now and get a start on it. I will try and remember to be patient with it and let it work. I'm glad to have found you all to lean on through this process...this such a huge asset as having ppl going through what you're going through is immeasurable to me so thank you for responding and welcoming me!

Invictus it'll take a while to stabilize on the meds but don't give up. I'm on week 11 right now and feel I'm finally coming around...it's been a slow progression. I had a lot of anxiety the first few weeks in lex, it's normal and it does level off. I started at 2.5, 5, 7.5 and now 10. Feel free to message me anytime!

thanks for your first hand info. do u have GAD? is the drug helping with your depression and how do you feel now compared to when you started it? any major changes?

I'm so scared to take it. I still haven't. I was told to at night but I take almost all of my lithium, gabapentin and Ativan at night so I'm afraid of being too sleepy. But I'm scared in general that it's going to make my depression worse and/or give me anxiety. What would you do if you were me? Ahhh I need encouragement. Thanks again!

i took Lexapro for 4 days at around 7pm at night and by morning i was a total wreck. everyone is different but i have terrible anxiety and a side effect of it is it can make it worse and that it did for me!! hope it works good for you.. others i know took it at night because it made them overly tired, every med effects everyone differently so the only way would be to try and see how it affects you before you know when you would take it everyday!
