Cymbalta Withdrawal Symptoms

Hello,

I was on 60 MG cymbalta for 6 months due to anxiety and depression. I never had any side effects on cymbalta and it helped me cure my anxiety and depression! I have now been on 30 MG cymbalta for 2 months. It seems i have got sleeping issues now and also brain zaps and problems with my sight when moving direction of the eyes quickly from left to right.

Im on my withdrawal period now and my doctor recommended me 2 months of cymbalta 30 MG and if it works well i should quit. However my 2 months of taking cymbalta 30 mg i still have some brain zaps and sleeping issues, tiredness and sometimes low energy. How should i expect the withdrawal symptoms to continue on my withdrawal dose and shold i quit taking cymbalta anyway now after 2 months?

I've had similar withdrawal issues with the sight 'thing', that scared me and made me feel uncomfortable, I'm sorry about this, it is not very nice. I can't remember how long it's been since I've taken an SSRI, every now and then I think I have the sight 'thing' very occassionally, though that might be in my mind.

I'm not sure how long the withdrawal symtoms should last and which doses would lessen the symptoms, seems like quite a drop from 60mg to 30mg. I can tell you that I don't have withdrawal symtoms anymore, so they did go away, except for the odd time I have an incline of the eye thing in one or two seconds, which goes away quickly (that the antidepressants are out of my system would suggest that the eye thing now is just me thinking it when tired or maybe too much coffee, though it was very real at the time when I was going through withdrawal)

It may be worth discussing it with the doctor, I think another time, taking a different SSRI I managed to withdraw without many if any that I can remember, side-effects.

I looked up cymbalta online, and I think it said SNRI, I don't know if in that case the withdrawal symptoms are different or change in length of time, compared with an SSRI.

In my experience the snri's are harder to come off of than the ssri's. But that is just me.

I would talk to the doctor and see if there is anything you can do to ease the effects. Can I ask why you are going off of cymbalta if it was working for you? Just curious...

I got the eye problems and zaps on effexor. Not a lot, but once in awhile. I could actually hear my eyes move.

Well i dont want to be on medication longer than needed. I heard you have to take at least 6 months to get a permanent effect. As im feeling well now and my life is sorted out i want to stop taking medication also.

I did that only to find out that the medication was the reason that I was feeling good. And going off was hard, then I got depressed again. Just to let you know what happened to me.

I hope you can successfully go off of the medication and that you feel well while off of it.

Talk to your doctor. Let him explain the complications of quitting the medication. I went off of Cymbalta cold turkey. I had brain zaps, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, aching all over, and just over all yuckiness. It lasted for a month and a half. If I had talked to my dr he would have been able to help me wean off in a way to avoid this. So, seriously discuss this with your dr.
