I don't even know if I should be posting this in depression or anxiety because I have both.
Anyway, I'm a basket case. I ran out of medication 6 weeks ago (to see if I really needed it plus my sliding scale program ran out). It is definite that I need medication now. I may post another post about how terrible I'm doing. I can't stop crying, the physical symptoms of anxiety are back, etc etc. I don't even want to leave the house to drive or go the doctor to get medication.
Sorry I keep getting off topic. The help I need is what to ask the doctor for. It's complicated, I don't have insurance and I don't have a lot of money so I can't be going to the doctor every week if the medication doesn't work or for medication re-checks. I've had success (not happiness or normalcy, just getting out of bed etc.) with Effexor XR and a combination of Effexor XR with Bupropion SR and even further back Lexapro with Bupropion SR. My main problem is this family doctor will not prescribe 2 medications without a psychiatrist consult (which I have had many times and understand), but I cannot afford that.
So my MAIN question is Has anyone taken the generic Effexor and has success? I was taking at my highest point 300mg of Effexor XR. Are there any extended release in the generic form? If not how do you take it and when and how many milligrams? I know my mom takes generic 75mg every 8 hours. Also, I know no one is a Dr. and can't give medical advice, but I know Drs. start out slowly with 75mg or less and work their way up. I know that dose does not work and cannot pay for one prescription then another one and this Dr will probably not have samples. Has anyone started at 150mg or higher right away or what have you done?
I know this is rambling. I'm a mess, PLEASE HELP!
