Did anyone not have success with their antidepressant until Wellbutrin was added to it?

i have tried numerous meds for my severe depression anxiety fears phobias that began two years ago after some medical scares I have seen many psychiatrists therapists group counseling and all no medication has offered any relief for my symptoms at all. I am most recently on prozac since January and at this point psychiatrist has me at 80 Mgs I still have not seen an ounce of improvement the other day he decided to add Wellbutrin extended relief to see if it will help 150 Mgs I'm desperate for relief. Just wondering if anyone out there didnt have success with their antidepressant until Wellbutrin was added please let me know

I just had Wellbutrin added to my effexor. Three plus weeks now, and I feel much better than I did. There were some side effects that went away after about two weeks.

I took wellbutrin and effexor together before. The effexor was doing well by itself so I stopped the wellbutrin. I just needed more effexor is all.

I had Wellbutrin added to my Lexapro about two months ago and am definitely doing better.

What were the side effects if you don't mind my asking? Also, do you take the medicine for anxiety as well as depression?

I take Effexor xr 150 mg and my anxiety is not doing so well anymore and I think I am becoming pretty depressed as well. Thanks in advance.

You might need a bump in your effexor. I use to take 375mg a day... That worked for me for a long time...

Karen,

I thought 225 mg was the maximum dosage for Effexor XR?  But if that is what will help, I am willing to do anything at this point!  I just want my life to have some normalcy back in it.  We are going to Aruba in June, and I certainly can't go feeling the way I do now.

Was on 225 Effexor and still had break-thru crying and panic and very depressed.

Added 150 Wellbutrin, and started feeling better quickly. More energy, more control, more focus.

Side Effects-Hard to sleep (even with Ambien and muscle relaxer), jittery, brain zaps, dryness.

I took 375 for many years. Then I switched to pristiq when effexor went generic...

I hope you feel better soon. Myself has a good suggestion too.

For those here that had success when the Wellbutrin was added how long would you say it took for Wellbutrin to kick in and make any difference at all in how you felt?

I had a dr appt this afternoon and she bumped my Effexor up to 225mg. I'm hoping this will do the trick and sooner rather than later!!

She is also running blood work on the following:

CBC w manual diff
CMP
TSH & Free T4
Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy-CPT
Iron, Tibc, B12, Ferritin
Creatine Kinase Ser/Plasma

I will wait for the results on the blood work to see what it shows and start the increase on the Effexor tomorrow.

I hope that it works for you. Like I said, it worked for me for years. I only switched because it went generic. I may have had to change to generic after being on brand name for so long. It may have been different. I don't know... But the pristiq works good too.
