Many posts back, Karen made a breathing suggestion.
I have had COPD for years ... and last night I was at a seminar for stress management - relative to cancer.
I was surprised to here the doctor last night give breathing instructions (to reduce stress) that were identical to the breathing techniques the nurses give at the COPD excercise group.
Simply:
1) breathe in thru the nose for a count of three - then:
2) breathe out thru purced lips slowly for a count of six.
That's it! The doctor last night said - "do this ten times, and you won't believe how much your stress has reduced"! The key is just the breathing out should be twice as long as the breathing in - so it needs to be out slowly.
