Daily Check In Thread For All!!! #99

Good morning .........

   It's a little cool here but bright and sunny this morning. Many things to look forward to this morning - and that's good. But one bad e-mail came in late yesterday.

   There is a terrific non-profit agency that's been in business here for the past 15-years call The Wellness Place. It is specifically or cancer patients and their families - and will be closing at the end of next month. 

   I've been involved with this group for a year now ... with three of their support groups, trying Reiki once, going to at least four of the speaker programs and to the medical hypnotist once. Many other activities were being considered by me also.

   This agency has, since it's origin, been financed by private organizations and also has/had three fund-raisers each year. I participated in Junes fund-raiser.

   Even though two of the support groups I found to not be very helpfull to me, the group for metastatic cancer has been a small, very tight knit group of people who truly care about each other ..... and as had been said "we've become members of our chosen family"!

   We lost one of our members over two months ago to her metastisized breast cancer ....... and we became stronger.

   While the e-mail did state that the group will try to place us into other or different located support groups, so much will be lost. And no more free programs with either guest speakers or group excercise sessions or private massage, reiki or other stress-reducing programs directed by professional volunteers.

   I have my support group this morning - and there should be another three group meetings left. It won't be a happy meeting today.

   On a brighter note, Gizmo will be going into the groomer in less than 30-minutes. I think he senses it! He was extra happy this morning - even though he only saw one dog on our coffee run.

   I was a brushing maniac last night - and he was good thru most of it! Except for his hind leg hair and tail hair (underside) - he looks much better - and ready for a big bath and all the other stuff afterwards.

   I will check in later - hopefully to find out AV has Bernie back, Michele is feeling better, Karen has even more berries, etc. !!!!!!

   And yes, tonight is a Bears game!

Morning/Afternoon all. Fun concert last night, now back to reality. We didn't get to sleep until after one AM. I just emailed the manager I interviewed with. I figured it would be easier to be turned down over email. Today is gorgeous, as was last night, and I need to take Mom to her foot doctor and the ss office.

Again, I have downloaded an app that blocks websites after so long. So, I can spend far less time here and be able to force myself to be more productive. I applied for six jobs yesterday. Be well all my friends.

You can set how much time allowed on blocked sites in a 24 hour period. After that time, a page pops up that tells you to go back to work.

That's what business offices need to use to keep productivity levels up and cut back on employee socialization time...

Keep us posted about your decisions, Myself.

Oh, I've been meaning to tell you that I enjoy your little quips, like "rinse. repeat." And the one about chugging whiskey and it coming back up??? (Lovely, Jan) And, of course, your punctuation to Make. A. Point. ;)

Thanks for the compliment, Jan. I try to preserve my speaking style in writing. Using punctuation can usually be a good indicator of tone, color, and meaning. Can we all tell I'm a language nerd?

Very depressed. Dad is home. I am happy for that. Bad news they found a tumor on his left kidney...... It doesnt mean it is but it dont mean it aint either. Other things on my mind as well. I have thought a lot about my uncle, and so I am just an emotional disaster area right now. Oh and my cat, HATES ME. So yea. Be well every1. Bye 4 now.

Good morning again .....

   My skinny little Gizmo and I saw NO dogs this morning on the coffee run! What is going on????

   It was rather chilly. Michele - don't think you'de like the 50-degree mornings!!! But it is supposed to get up to 80 today! This week-end is the big annual air and water show on Lake Michigan - and it sounds like perfect weather for it. The Blue Angels (precision flying team) is featured every year - it's a nice free show! But - good luck on parking!!!!

   AV ...... it must be nearly impossible for Bernie to keep that catheter in. I hope your doing OK ... and Bernie too!

   Karen ..... there is a local winery here (Winfred) that I've purchased wine from several times. They have all the fruit wines, the serious wines and one wine that is extremely poplular - called their Christmas wine. It's to be had either room temp or lightly heated - has boquets of cinnamon and is just really good! Ever make any specialty wines???

   Alice ...... nice to see you're lurking - or whatever!!!!! Long ago - I was going to a support group for divorced people - and had at least one meeting at my house. But - with a divorce support group, there is always the hope of positives - actually many positives. With a metastatic cancer support group - at best, there is temporary companionship - at best! Much different animals!!!!

   Hey - you do realize that your "barking like a seal" cough is very appropriate for "shark week"!!! Jist kiddin!

   Myself 09 .... the game sucked! I certainly hope you get a positive e-mail soon. You deserve it!!! I see the "Skins" play next Monday night!

   Michele ..... hope you're good! I'm hoping to get U-verse myself in the coming months. I thought about Direct! Comcast has been an experience that could actually drive people away from watching TV!!!!

   jan1952 ...... I need to tell Will Rodgers about my groomer!!!!

Notes:

   Surgery in 10-days .... need to start focusing on the prep work. BUT - my daughter should be back in town in about 20-days!

Alice- great to hear from you. Bday dinner was moved to lunch today. Imagine that! And yes it will be Mexican food. Yummy!! That cough doesn't sound good. Are you sure it's not bacterial? I hope you feel better soon!

Rob- POOR Gizzy!!! He's naked!! That's crappy!! If I lived closer, I'd clean your house. Something about the smell of a clean house that helps me relax.

Oh about Directv. Every time it rained, I lost signal. I hated that!

Karen- we used to pick wild black berries off my grandmothers barbed wire fence. Yummy!!

Well I'm going to hop in the bath and head to school for a while.

Bernie will have to spend the weekend at the vets. He did leave the catheter in last night, thanks to the cone of shame. His appetite is a little better today. I hate that he's been there so long. I really don't want him to feel abandoned. He was a stray when we took him in and I don't want him to feel unloved ever again. He's been through a lot in his 3 years and deserves to be coddled. I've been in constant contact with the vets office and have been visiting him. Ellie is still looking for him. Her poor little meows are sounding hoarse. I got the cats a couple new toys to keep them distracted. I brought Bernie a pair of socks. He loves socks so I thought he'd like some there.

Myself, I believe a better oppurtunity will come your way. You are a great teacher and have a lot to offer. I wish all of my kids teachers were so invested in their educations.

Rob, does Gizmo like going to through groomer? Mom's dogs don't and I know the Maltese, Zetta, has gotten somr bad haircuts because of her refusal to behave. It must be hard to try and trim when your subject doesn't want to cooperate. When I was a teenager my mom decided to have our cat (Mini I've talked about her before) shaved. It wasn't a good luck and poor Mini looked as if she had survived multiple attempts on her life.

Karen, I love Blackberry jam. My grandmother used to make me my own jar. She was a great gardener. She used to save cucumbers and blackberries for me. Its sad now because her beloved garden was cleared put and a storage place was built on that property. The kids love all fruits and we always have some. The local farmers market is great for that.

I've been sleeping a lot. The dr put me on a new pain medication and benadryl. The sweating is getting better and I'm not as sore. I managed to trip yesterday and have some nice bruises on my legs now. Its going to be a lonely weekend. The kids have a dad weekend and the ex is working. I checked out some library books and I really want to go see Expendables 3.
