Thanks for the welcome! I just started treatment for serotonin deficiency and I had immediate improvement and I'm excited to see what the long term effects are like once the drug is fully in my system!
I think I've had this issue for a long time, since about grade 7. Had brain fog, insomnia, chronic fatigue. I was always telling people i was tired. I began trying to self medicate with food, energy drinks, coffee, pop to improve my mood. My parents just kind of played off the "grumpy when you're hungry" issue. This developed into childhood obesity and I'm still battling that (I've lost about 60 lbs on my own willpower, but now i'm stuck). I have a new doctor who really cares about me, which is nice. My old one didn't believe in mental illness or anything of that sort.
I'm actually being treated for my physical symptoms, the depression/anxiety just seems to be the final symptom to be added to the pile. I'm just starting Cipralex 10MG. It's fairly pricy, but fortunately my work benefits covered it entirely.
This is what I've noticed so far:
Headache: Chronic pain gone, still photosensitive
Fatigue/Tiredness: I think I just need to get some sleep, It feels different though.
Hunger: Reduced/Normal, Not craving sugar/caffeine or Starches anymore. Not craving lunch time.
Thirst: Not craving energy drinks/sweet beverages. I'm happy with water, which is rare for me unless working out.
Insomnia: It was a bit harder than usual getting to sleep last night, but the sleep actually felt good- and I wanted more when I woke up and went to work. Which is new. Usually i'd wake up every few hours.
Side effects:
None so far. I think the medication is overwhelming me for the moment, I've been serotonin deficient for probably about 7-8 years so I kind of feel wide-eyed and "whoa". I did notice that my muscles are a bit tired. Arm was sore from holding my phone, a bit of joint pain. But that could be anything really, I was feeling a bit sore before and leading up to taking the medication.
