Two years ago, I was walking my Emotional Support Animal and as I was crossing the street at the corner, I was hit by a large pick up truck that was part of the fleet of the electric company. While I wasn't knocked to the ground, I was hit on the right side at shoulder level. I am 4'11" tall. Considering the fact that I had already had 2 surgeries on the shoulder and 3 surgeries on the wrist, I was taken by ambulance to the local hospital. The x-rays were negative, thank goodness, but multiple contusions were noted by the doctor. I also have issues with my cervical spine so was referred for treatment with a chiropractor and an ortho/pain management doc. I should add that the dog was NOT harmed and the police were kind enough to take her home for me.
Since the electric company is 'privately insured' I had to get a lawyer to make sure all of the medical bills were paid. This required filing a lawsuit and the deposition is coming up this week. They have requested medical records from before my 32 year old daughter was born! My memory is not very good anymore and I have no idea what kind of questions they will be asking me. Having to focus on my injuries and my pain has put me in a very irritable state. Two months after the accident, my daughter and I took our dogs to the local dog park. I had been having a lot of anxiety trying to keep up with her usual walking routine. Someone came in with an older dog and a puppy and our dogs were chasing the poor thing. While attempting to get our dogs I was knocked down and, you guessed it, injured the shoulder, again! I know this is going to be an issue in this case.
I have not been on depression meds for years, due to side effects. I am considering putting up with them just to get me through this difficult period. I have been maintaining pretty well (this site helps) but this is really weighing on me right now. Combined with other issues within the family (daughter just diagnosed with Cushings Disease and anticipating brain surgery) and just the day to day stuff, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Thanks for letting me get some of this out. It helps, it really does!
