Hello everyone,
Three weeks ago I was given Cipralex for Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have taken Cipralex in the past and it worked wonders--I began to see positive results within two weeks with no side effects--but this time around it's simply not been the same.
Both times I was started on a 10mg dosage which was then increased to 20mg within one week as I suffered no side effects, aside from jaw clenching.
I was also prescribed Lorazepam/Ativan to tide me over until the effects of the meds begin to kick in, but I find that by the time I start to feel anxious it's already too late, and I simply find myself feeling sleepy when I take a sublingual tablet. Then, as soon as the effects wear off, I'm back to being a nervous wreck again.
At my last appointment, nearly two weeks ago, I was prescribed Clonazepam to take twice daily (morning and night) to prevent the anxiety as an alternative to the Lorazepam, but I don't even feel as though that's working.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken Cipralex in the past with good results, and has then gone back on it to find that it isn't working? Is it possible to build up an "immunity" of sorts?
As an aside, I've been trying to wrap my head around the difference between SSRIs and SNRIs. Would it be worth me asking to try an SNRI, and if so, can anyone recommend an alternative to consider?
Apologies for the long post, but I've found so much useful information on this forum and consider the users on here to really "know their stuff" so would really appreciate hearing about
your personal experiences and opinions on these meds.
Thank you in advance
