New member sliding into deep depression.

Good morning, my first post here. I've dealt with depression on and off now for 20 plus years. At present I'm just on Remeron and it's not working; I was on Abilify as well which helped but the anxiety it caused was pushing me to the edge so I stopped taking it two weeks ago. I'm seeing my med specialist tomorrow, any suggestions as to what might work with the Remeron would be helpful.

Do you think that stopping the abilify could be causing it? Mine went generic and it isn't the same.

Thanks for the reply and words of encouragement. The Abilify script is generic; my problem is that anxiety has increased over time to the point where I'm shaking and crawling out of my skin. I was warned that this is one of the affects of this medication, the only problem is I need something to compliment the Remeron as it is not working on its own.

You ask your doc about Lamictal, I think that is the spelling, I am on 50mg with Effexor. Works well, took some time, about 2 months, but is great now.

Do you use any copings skills to calm the anxiety and panic attacks?

such as controlled breathing?

I wish you luck finding what is going to work for you. Lamictal is good too I hear. Trina is right about coping skills and controlled breathing, they both work for me. mindful.org might have some help for you.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I don't tolerate any of the meds that I have tried so, I feel your frustration. If I don't use the coping skills I have learned I would never get out of bed! One of the simplest is "Think about what you are thinking about." Some people shy away from 'meditation' but if you are just running 'bad thoughts' through your brain, you ARE meditating, just on something that is not good for you! This was pointed out to me and opened the door for a new practice in my life. I hope you find what you need for your situation.

Just got back from the Dr.'s office; long story short after discussion regarding several meds I'm going to try taking Seroquel in addition to the Remeron I'm now taking. I should see some relief hopefully within two weeks, let's hope.
