Do you use any coping skills? When I have SI thoughts. I hold ice cubes in my hands until it hurts, bad.
This like the divers response. Brings you down from the high emotions and helps you get to another coping skill, such as distractions. Movies, art, music, exercise.
If this does not work, Yes by all means call 211 in US or any support you know of. Your docs office, support group, friends, even talking to a friend about anything will make you feel better.
If you can pull yourself out, then yes, perhaps inpatient may be needed.
