people are so nasty, mean and useless

I can not count how many people have let me down lately. They are always asking for favors and just take me for granted. If I need something then they run the other way.

They have no time for me and act like they are doing me a favor by saying hello. I have to tell them I am the recipient of three scholarships to get any respect at all.

When I realize I have been "taken" I am so upset. You think at 70 I would know better.

The medicos around here are the pits and I am not the only one who is being maltreated.

When did everybody become so hostile and have so much desire to accumulate stuff that it became more important than friendship and being a pleasant neighbor?

I am sorry you are experiencing this, Joan. It is never fun to be around unpleasant people and incompetents.

I am not trying to be mean here. That being said, might I ask if your out-going demeanor is pleasant/friendly or is it hostile? Do you treat others as you wish to be treated? Do you expect a bad interaction before it happens?

This forum is great place to vent and get people who understand. We all use it for this, and it helps so much to know that others have experienced similar difficulties. You seem very lonely, as well as bitter/angry about circumstances. This doesn't mean this is what you are--It's just a perception I get from reading your posts. It might just be frustration. Depression leads us to dark places,and this does affect almost everything in our lives.

So, take the following with a grain of salt. We get what we expect to see. What we project to others is often reflected back to us. Every encounter has a tone which is set in the first few moments, and is really hard to change. In interactions with others, the result is a two-way street, set in motion even before it starts, developed by expectations and personal issues,as well as place/time.

My aunt is 90, and has been very independent much of her life. When her health started to fail, it became IMPOSSIBLE to find people to help her out. Neighbors and co-workers and church-goers had been rebuffed so many times before that when their help was needed, they were uninterested in giving it. Even family was turned away. My brother and I tried to help her, but she threw us out after a few days. I even contacted her minister, who told me of my aunt's behavior. She said she would try to get someone to stop by weekly, but had tried to do this before and had unpleasant results.

Just food for thought. I am really not trying to be hurtful, but just wanted to point out some of what I have observed.

Myself you have taken a lot for granted. I think you are very judgmental about someone you have never met

I did not bother reading your entire post because you sound like you are projecting stuff on me. I am not your old aunt or a member of your family. I must say that fact is to my benefit.

You know where your "grain of salt" belongs or do I have to spell that out for you.

THANKS so much everybody else for your kind words. Am hanging in there and hoping we will not have too many hazy, hot and humid days ahead.

As stated before, I was just making an observation on the general tone of your posts,and trying to do so gently. I was just wondering, perhaps, if this impacts your real-life interactions.

I am sorry to have offended you so profoundly. I was trying to help, as we are often unaware of how our non-verbals affect others, and how that negatively impacts our relationships.
