Morning (or whatever time of day it is) All!!

Subbed yesterday with 6th graders--it was an okay day. Went out to my garden after. Things are looking a little better with two whole days of sun, after the sky-flood event of the last two weeks. One melon seems to be floundering a bit. My cukes are yellowish--which I am guessing is too much rain, or insects. I took out some red pepper spray and gave everyone a dose. Pumped and carried three buckets of water. Had to rest after each one.

Need to call back a woman for what is hopefully a full-time job. The SAT finished it's grading early (got word this AM, grrr), so today is mine to do what I want. I am heading to run errands later,after I call the nice lady about employment, and definitely need to hit the gym. Yesterday's bucket brigade left me exhausted.

Tired and achey. A little anxious--like a 3. The sun and the errands will help.

@Joyce - That's only cuz they can't get their cars started. ;-)

@M09 - Are you sure your cukes aren't bananas? You are new at this after all. Water is heavy - carrying it is my least favorite part of camping. Cool news on the job front - keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

@Karen - Have fun in the woods. Avoid all gingerbread structures, nothing good can come of them.

@Urvryone else - If you've never had a bubble tea, today should be the day. I recommend Taro flavor with tapioca bubbles.

Life is too short for bad shoes and bad coffee. The coffee part is easy, shoe shopping is hard. I have the weirdest feet.

Feeling very blue lately, work is getting to me. This game of economic 'chicken' the world is playing can kiss my hairy pale a$s$s$.

19 out of 25 days in May we had rain and little-to-no sun. I will send you some, Karen. The earth was like sludgey slime at the end of it. 5.68 inches officially in DC, and 15 straight days. 15 straight days of highs below 70 degrees. For the mid-Atlantic--it's been yucky.

Mmmm--gingerbread.

If I lived in Alaska, I wouldn't have a car--just not practical.

F27-The world's gone mad. I have no words. I have been watching CNN's series "The Sixties". I am reminded of the hopelessness that the beginnings of the Cold War and the nuclear threat brought, the red scares and the civil rights era. The hate and fear in the world scares me more than the fiscal angle, but I don't have money and have no aptitude for it. *sigh*

The nice lady said the hiring client was concerned I was over-qualified. Yeah, ya think? But I assured her I was out of academia and very interested in the position... we shall see. Heading out for errands and to check on the garden.

Phase one complete...the bathroom is gutted. My daughter's boyfriend came up and helped me.

Tomorrow, subflooring and piping and hopefully installing the new tub.

I've got a lot of 'volunteer' tomato plants from seeds that were left after last years crop. Not sure which type yet, probably black pearl and cherry tomatoes. The transplant is doing well. Both types of cucumbers have sprouted. The sugar snap peas are up about 10 inches. Yes, things are coming along well! I even have 2 potato vines coming up in the flower garden that I planted where the old veggie beds used to be! I've inserted 2 golf tees into the ground at the base of the vines to help me find where to dig in the fall after the vines have died back. They get such lovely flowers and will look great with the rest of the flowers and foliage!

One of the poppy plants is red/orange and now I know that the other is yellow! The peonies are just now opening up...pink! One of the canna plants I bought last week is starting to bloom also, a nice deep dark shade of pink. Can't wait for the others!

Subbed for 7th grade today. Pleasant enough. Went to the gym after for a brief swim and bike ride. Warm and muggy.

Got a voicemail from the woman at the staffing agency. I have no freakin' clue what it means. I've listened to it a handful of times--and come to a different conclusion each time. They want to move forward--or I am over-qualified and they don't want to proceed. I called her back, and will send an email as well. It just makes me so frustrated. What am I supposed to do? I want to work, but feel as if I go down the rabbit hole each and every time. The Washington Post had a story today that a worker in DC needs to make over 31 bucks an hour to afford a 2-bedroom apartment here. I send out applications-get some first-level interviews, which disintegrate.

hello all. had 3 Korean beers, they were on special. just had a nose bleed. they were rather tangy. sent some e-mails and texts. my shower is broken, no housing. hate the bath. struggle getting in and out of the bugger. was going to write to my ad-hoc shrink, but thought, nah, got me mates around me, that's what is important. I know- oooh, here comes my dirty word, 'the process' if the u know what hits the fan. love 2 all.
