Hi all. Sorry I've been so quiet...very busy here with my nephew 'visiting' from Florida. Getting him squared away and 'integrated' into the household has been challenging. Much shopping done as he has little with which to face the colder temps here. Plus, for some reason, our dogs are not accepting him as easily as we had hoped. A bit frightening, to have 2 large pitbulls bark and growl at him every time he comes in the house and sometimes when he simply walks from one room to another! Trying to figure out what they are trying to tell me about him.

Colder temps mean more pain for me and all of the running has me pretty worn out.

I'll see my pain doc today to reschedule the epidural injections and get a refill on my meds.

Daughter is suffering from increased Cushing's Disease symptoms and missing a lot of work hours as a result.

I could use a break.

This election and the fact that I might need more liquid nitrogen on the wort of my foot has me very anxious. Where I live there are many born agains and end of dayers which normally does not bother me but now they seem full of hate. On one end of the road, there was a party of about 100 people which ended in a crucially wounded person by gun shot. At the other end there is an absolutely obnoxious sign about Hilliary Clinton Feel totally out of place sometimes. smhair

We went out to vote last weekend in early voting.

Had the shakes really bad--until I got my effexor. It seems withdrawal happens pretty quickly--I took a half dose Monday morning, then nothing until 10:30 or so.

Went on a hike this afternoon--5 miles or so. My legs were shaking by the end--had to stop and rest so I wouldn't slide in the leaves. It was beautiful.

Glad you got a nice bike ride today Myself. I am glad it was nice where you are. It rained all day here.

It is hard to go through going off Effexor like that. I missed a day or two of pristiq and it was nasty. But once I took it I started feeling better. Psychologically of course, physically in an hour or so. The next day was back to normal. I am glad you got it and hope you are feeling better.

I am relieved I voted. I am glad it is over. I hope it is. We'll see when the results come in I guess.

Pink wasn’t always a girl’s color and blue a boy’s color,
...... in fact, it was once the other way around.

The reason was that pink, being a more vivid and stronger color, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl. The current colors for boys and girls didn’t take full hold until the middle of the 20th century.

Recent discovery shows that colors affect the way we taste foods. For instance, an orange or creme-colored cup definitely makes chocolate taste better than in any other cup with a different color.

Researchers say that red and yellow are the most appetizing colors. Having said that, it's best not to paint your kitchen yellow if you’re on a diet.

No wonder fast food giants like McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, and many other restaurants wear this color scheme..

Not sure what to do medically. Ought I to start reducing my dosage of my medications? I won't be able to afford coverage. I know this is early days yet--but with the amount of meds I have, it will take time.

Myself, I wouldn't lose hope just yet. But if you feel better about reducing your meds, then do so. Gradually. He can't just stop or abolish this, it has to be passed in the senate and the house. Just don't let this get you down. It all takes time. Hang in there Myself.

Know we are here for you and try not to worry. Everything is going to be okay.

The world’s tallest tree, named Hyperion, measures more than 379 feet. It’s a coast redwood and is located in California.

Just to give you an idea of how tall that is,
....... the tree is 63 feet taller than the Empire State Building!


The best way to measure tree height is to climb to the top and lower a tape, with a weight, straight to the ground. Of course, this wasn’t the easiest way, given that Hyperion’s lowest branches are at least 25 stories high. To get to the top, they used a powerful crossbow to launch a fishing line up and over the tree branches. They then used the line to hoist a climbing rope into the tree.


The oldes tree, a bristlecone named Prometheus, was 5,200 years old and grew in Nevada. The tree reached a height of just 17 feet and a circumference of 252 inches.

Large portions of it were dead, but a single 11-foot branch was still alive (no small thing given the slow-growing nature of bristlecones, which add just an inch of girth every century)
It was cut down in 1964 before its age was uncovered.
