how long can you go without watching the idiot box? this challenge means it is turned off. aussie slang for television. the idiot box, very apt. it's nearly been a day. no streaming on pc or lap tops / fablets either!!! gets ya movin'.

Ugh, mother used to call the TV that!
I don't watch all that much to begin with, so I am ahead of the game to begin with!

Dunno' when you guys "down under" started calling it the "Idiot Box", but that's what my father called those things way back in the 60's. He still has never allowed one in his house, he's 90 now.
I do own a TV, but lots of days it never comes on at all. (However, there is *never* a day I don't read a book!) We watch an hour or maybe two hours about
3 times a week, and that's about
it.
Good luck in changing your relationship with the Idiot Thing!

My tv is on all day. But I watch animal planet and other channels such as that. National Geographic, Discovery and sit coms. I see a lot of news on the internet. But you kind of have to look for it and I kind of don't. Face Book, lot's of stuff there...

I think this is a good challenge.
It is part of being unplugged. Spending time in silence, being still, even for 5min is therapeutic.
Try cutting the time by hours first then by days and see hour amazing you feel!
I promise, anxiety will be lowered for some of you.
Peace
Trina

2 days ha ha ha
Hey as long as you watch things that feed your head- who cares? I have it on in the background but I seldom direct all my attention to the screen. There is really little on that interests me.

I have to have some back ground noise unless I am reading or something.
I think taking a break is a good thing. But I don't think it has to be for a real long time. I feel any break is good. I just kind of got to know some of what is going on. Though I am not up really well on current events, I need to know a little.
At one time I didn't care.
One time I didn't even have tv and I didn't miss it one bit.

It is not for everyone, I know.
I have found a sense of calm and self awareness in silence, since I have become disabled. It has aided in reversing and stopping negative thought patterns.
Just saying...
Peace all

I have gotten use to silence at night. I use to always have a fan on for noise, but stopped. It was hard to get use to.
