I started volunteering for a local environmental organization.  I had my first training last night, which was really quite interesting, but not at all what I expected.  I was by far the youngest one there besides the program manager who looks to be about my age, cute, and if I was reading the signals correctly was (as a friend of mine would say) "making googly eyes at me"!   tongue

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.

I saw the cutest thing today. There was a motorcycle driving down the street, which isn't a big deal until I did a double take. The back of the motorcycle was the back end of a classic car! One of those big huge ones with lots of chrome. The paint of the back end of the car (royal blue) matched perfectly with the drivers helmet! :)

The weather today was sunny, breezy, 80's--just gorgeous. I got a ton of errands done yesterday and today. I don't have a car but today I had use of my sister in law's car. Yesterday I picked up the cremated remains of my cat Hollie. I am now petless for the first time in many many years. Hollie was 18 and she now joins her grandmother Pixie who was 20 when she died 2 years ago; they sit on my entertainment center and I miss them...  I did LOADS of laundry (as I was wearing my last clean pair of....erm...socks...), I found a coffee table at Salvation Army AND it was 25% off, got some stuff at Walmart, then I FINALLY got ink and paper for my printer ~and~ I splurged and bought some stationery paper for the printer so I can write pretty letters to my son in Ohio and to others I know who don't have a computer.

Maybe it doesn't sound like much but it was a very busy day for me and kept me from missing my son a bit.

Nicest thing I saw today was a daddy giving a little girl a piggyback ride; as she settled in she laid her head on her daddy's back with a look that said "I love my daddy and there is no place else I'd rather be." She looked so content, happy, peaceful, safe. It was a wonderful sight!

I saw a guy on a motorcycle the other day with a little yorkshire terrier sitting in front of him.  The little dog was going for a bike ride....I thought that was so cute.  It really says something about a guy who isn't afraid to have a little bitty doggie. tongue

I thought i would write this here,
Of course you have a right feel, and express yourself, whether on a forum or not, and it shouldn't be expected that your, mine or anyone elses view is going to be the same, i have no dis-respect, for anyone expressing thier views, i pulled the story because i tried to read it from your perspective, and apart from the intent of the story, the rest was very misleading and false, when i re-read it, i was able to see this,

i looked for the right way to express this yesterday, but i think i found the words this morning, and i wrote them down,

The written word allows us to alter our perspective, it means we can go back over those words and see the errors in how we may have first viewed them, whereas the spoken word has a sense of finality, once spoken, often the ego and emotions become involved, leaving little room or willingness to alter perspective,
We all hold our views firmly, but it is better to make them strong, but flexable, then find the common ground, which I think, Nanse, we did, thank you,

Now something completely different, and though this is the positive and happy page, i am a little well no a lot annoyed by a certain leader of our worlds, being if the accusations are correct , he wants to blow the hell out of another country, to keep this short, "Rome was great once too" Bad and Ignorant judgement, thousands of years of this kind of garbage and we still can't work it out.

Sorry about the politics, but really annoyed me and needed to have a moan "somewhere" heres something a little less grumpy

A Fable from India

The animals of the forest made a bargain with a ferocious lion who killed for pleasure. It was agreed that one animal each day would willingly come to the ferocious lion's den to be his supper and, in turn, the lion would never hunt again. The first to go to the lion's den was a timid rabbit, who went slowly.

"Why are you late?" the lion roared when the rabbit arrived.

"I'm late because of the other lion," said the rabbit.

"In my jungle? Take me to this other lion."

The rabbit led the lion to a deep well and told him to look in. The lion saw his own reflection in the water and roared! The sound of his roar bounced right back at him as an echo.

"I alone am king of this jungle," he roared again.

His echo answered him, "I alone am king of this jungle."

With that, the lion became so enraged, he charged into the deep well with a great splash! The lion attacked his own reflection and was never heard from again.

brownleaf~ It is not very often when you will have someone reflect so much on the thoughts and feelings of some else.  This really does show your true character and proves how much of an asset you are to all of us with your insight.  Hugs....

I've got Crohn's Disease and have had 5-way bypass surgery. I feel lucky and blessed. How can there be?

Actually, everyday is a good day for me. After all, I'm still around and kicking. Even with my problems, there is so much to be thankful for.

I live in America, land of the free. I've got a loving wife. Two loving dogs. I'm making a living (not a fortune, but still a living). I've got friends. I've got HealingWell.com to help me cope. And more.

I will never give up or give in.

Okay guys,  We cant let this thread go....I haven't posted on this here myself as I have had a bad few days and have been kinda grumpy.  So, here goes....It is a good day today as I have paid off the last of my credit card debit of which I purchased my 3000.00 bed.  So when I go to bed tonight I wont feel guilty..   Even though the bed is worth every penny I paid plus the interest. We wont talk about student loans....Still working on those..... Also, I might be able to get my computer back from the repair man today...Hopefully, if the stars are in my favor.  My hard drive crashed and I lost everything I had on it which was a really hard thing for me to get my mind around as I haven't backed up in well, lets just say in  forever .  I do really know better.   I also couldnt find my original CD for my Windows XP OS that was loaded on it so I had to go buy that also.  So, I am trying to keep an open mind about it and thanking god that I do have my notebook to still be connected to the outside world for this last week. I hope this Tuesday finds you all well......

Elisha, Don't throw away your Damaged Hard Disk yet, and dont get excited, but i know theres sometimes a chance that you can jump a wire that may give you a chance to copy it to another computer, if i can i will ask a friend, how he did it, i remember him telling me, that it's unlikely techs will ever do it, but can be done depending on what damage, will see what i can find out,

Thank you brownleaf... if it can be done that would be great. If not that's okay to I spent about 6 hours today reloading programs back on my empty putter today.  Also, debating on selling a kidney to pay for the money I had to fork over for the repair costs...I could of just bought a new one, they never tell you though.   But on the good side my computer has sound now which it hasn't in several months, don't know why not as sound card was ok, must be the user..lol!!! but it has scared me a few times out of my chair with all the unexpected bells and dings that come up..sort of funny.

That was great brownleaf and Sadsong....I wanted to share this with everyone with my mom's permission of course as she wrote it.  She has become quite the poet in our family in the last few years and had a few things published.  I thought this one was appropriate.... Good afternoon everyone...It is Easter weekend and a little slow.  I have just gotten back from getting my hair trimmed well, I had about 2 inches taken off and still have enough to put in a long ponytail.  Went to the pet store and bought Normandy 2 new cat collars.  He doesnt mind them as long as I take off the bells that are always on them.  He has a total of 15 now....I know it is a little compulsive but he is my child with fur.  I'm debating on taking a nap as it is such a lazy day today....I hope everyone is doing well.  Have a good day and weekend.

Hello everyone,

Just saw the first wild flower of spring today. A little furry purple corcus flower by the hiking trail.

I live in Saskatchewan and seen only snow since October, so this is indeed happy news for me. I am also happy that I had the energy to go on a hike. Because of illness I don't have a whole lot of energy lately.
