Hi. My daughter who is 11 has been diagnosed with a full spectrum of (pardon my language) crap. ADHD, ODD, Cyclothymia, Bipolar. She's really pretty much out of control. The littlest things are a battle.

But today I was dealing with one of her outbursts, and was really looking at her and the way she acts. She kept rubbing her shoulders, so I felt of them.. and they were in knots. She talks of feeling worthless, even though everyone around her does nothing but try to lift her up. I finally today, had that little parental lightbulb go on, and I think it may be simply depression. I have no clue how depression exhibits in a child, so am looking for advice/signs, whatever you can give me.

I do have an appt. with her for her pediatrician to get a looksee at her tommorrow to see if he agrees with me.

Anything that anyone can give me would be a great help. I know how supportive this section of the forum is..(I mod for Chronic Pain and Fibro).

Hi Sarah,  You are going through so much...I'm sorry for that.  I have a website to the National Institute of Mental Health that may be helpful for you to search on.  I will post it below for you.  Muscle aches are very common with BP and also depression.  My little brother (he's 29 now) was diagnosed with Bipolar in his early twenty's and also explosive personality disorder.  But as a child he was an absolute terror to be around and deal with.  I am positive that his mental disorders went back that far but when he & I were kid's the diagnosis process isnt what it is now and not as recognized.  I hope that you are able to find the answers that you are looking for and please keep us updated....Much love http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/bipolarupdate.cfm http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/invisible.cfm
