OK No More Cymbalta I saw to that today. Now the WOLF is taking Zoloft

Well folks it is official I am not one of the Zoloftians.  I am taking 50 MG of Zoloft every morning.  I have no idea what to expect except I heard it keeps us awake like Cymbalta did.  It seems to have a lot fewer side effects and at least side effects I can live with better than those from Cymbalta.  I have the Zoloft in the house now but my doctor said do not take the first dose till tomorrow.  So 4 AM tomorrow this old gray wolf will embark on the good ship Zoloft.

Nice thing is that 50 MG is a smaller dose than the 60 of Cymbalta so hopefully I will get just tiny side effects I can live with.  I would appreciate any insights you can give an old wolf on what to expect from Zoloft.  I already know I am pretty much denied a sex life on Zoloft but I am autistic so sex is not one of my strong suits so it will not be missed at all.  I hated the Cymbalta constipation but I am not sure I am looking forward to the opposite over loosening effect with Zoloft.

Just hope the Wolf is not secretly bi-polar because they say Zoloft will put a bi-polar person through the wringer.  I will be monitoring all my psychological systems extra close over the next 6 weeks so if anything goes too far out of the expected norms I am hoping I will be sharp enough to catch it before it gets too far.  Lucky for me I have friends at work who will alert me if the Wolf goes too far off his usual behavior track.  I am honestly hoping this medication will be the right one for me.  I am slightly worried about the aggression aspect of the side effects, since the last thing I need as an antisocial personality disorder sufferer is something that heightens agression under any circumstances.

It seems every anti depression medication has something that might screw with a negative aspect of my physical or psychological makeup.  Finding the right antidepressant for me seems a lot like dating and finding that special someone who is my soul mate.  Any help you can be is appeciated even words of support are welcome.  I intend to stick with this medication longer than I did the cybalta because, I think its side effects profile is more favorable to my needs.  Of course if anything vile happens I am prepared to back off but I am hoping "ZOLOFT is the ONE FOR ME!"

Hi wolf nice to meet you. I have been taking zoloft for 15 yrs. I have tried others, but zoloft seems the best for me. It does cause insomnia and lack of libido, but I can deal with that alot better than not being on anything at all. I've never had any problems with aggression with this drug, and I also have a social phobia. I take 75 mg because 100 seeems to make me too anxious. I'm also on an anxiety med, klonopin. I hope this medicine works as well for you as it has for me. Good Luck to you!

Hi ya Wolf, I was on Zoloft for many a year and did very well on it.  I also had the side effects that hope3 pointed out in her post and yes, it also made me very constipated.... not a pretty subject to speak of but there it is anyway.  I don’t take Zoloft any longer as it eventually stopped working for me and I had to switch to another med, but I did find it quite effective.  I hope it works well for you.

Hey Wolf i am at this time weaning off Zoloft after 5 yrs . I loved it and had 0 side effects . I was taking 200 mg w/ klonopin. Enjoyed sex also . no notice in bowels. 3 mo's ago I had alot hit me at once and i dont know what happened but my system went out of control . I am now weaning off Zoloft and taking Cymbalta w/ klonopin . I am worried about this drug Cymbalta but at my breakdown the Zoloft wasn't doing its job. I really hate coming off the Zoloft . I have also heard meds have a cycle of about 5 yrs . If Cymbalta gives constipation that will be good because i have been also the past 3 mo's suffered with irritable bowel and chronic diahrrea. I would like to try Lexapro but afraid it might throw me into mania but a tad of mania would be ok with me right now lol.

Hi Wolf,

I know many people on zoloft and have had good results from it. I, myself couldnt tolerate it but am quite sensitive to medications and everyone reacts differently to medications aswell.
