Has anyone here went thru the ssdi process? We are currently going thru this horrible procedure with an attorney- he feels that we have enough documentation that instead of waiting 12 to 18 months for a hearing we could request that an alj judge look at our file and make decision without a hearing , has anyone gone thru this process this way? please give some input!!!! VERY

ANXIOS AND SCARED about THIS ! My hubby has pd and psychotic depression , we have letters from his psych doc, and 2 family docs stating that he can no longer engage in any substantially

gainful employment and that his symptems are so severe and permanent that he can not work

Rosie - can Jules search the site for threads concerning disability claims?  Warren has mentioned several on the bipolar and chronic pain forums that have useful info. 

Jules - Biggie here is to Never give up.  The system would like to deny you, so it is up to you (your attorney) to keep the claim alive.   Financial survival is difficult in the meantime; there is no easy answer.  We sold a bunch of stuff and lived off credit cards.  Do whatever you gotta do and keep the disability claim active till you get approval.  :-)

I just want to thank you all for your replies , We just got a letter from senator harkins office , one of the many that i wrot to , saying that they have deamed our case as critical and that we should have a hearing in 1-2 months! We meet with our attorney this wed. to go over all paperwork that has to filled out for the hearing, our attorney is still thinking that we should try to just get alj judge to look at our case without a hearing, wouldnt it be much better to actually go before the judge? any insight here? again thank you all for all of your support , i am sure you all know how much it means
