HI,

MY NAME IS LIZZY. I'M NEW TO THIS GROUP.

I HAD BACK SURGERY APRIL 2002. L5, S1. I HAVE METAL IMPLANTS AND FUSION.

IT WAS FAILED BACK SURGERY. I LIVE IN CHRONIC PAIN. I SUFFER WITH DEPRESSION REAL BAD. I'M TAKING MEDICATION FOR THE DEPRESSION BUT SO TIMES I FEEL LIKE IT'S NOT WORKING. I'M WAITING TO SEE THE DOCTOR TO GET MY MEDS CHANGED.

Welcome to HW.
You are indeed a brave woman..to have put up with all this since 2002 - sheesh I am impressed :))
Wondering how much mobility you have and how long have you been on meds for depression? Do you have help from friends, family or some sort of suppport group? Have you tried some form of counselling to help manage the pain etc?
Sorry to ask so many questions.

Hi Jordan,

Thanks for asking about me. I'm on wellbutrin and they are not working anymore.

I'm waiting to see the doctor soon. I hope he changes my medication when I go to see to see him. I do see a therapist once a month. I use to see him once a week. Because the insurance company haven't paid the bill. I can only see him once a month until my lawyer gets things right with the insurance company.

Hi Angel,

 

Welcome to Healing Well.  I am sorry you are having trouble with your insurance company.  I don't know much about things like that as I'm from the UK and we have a national health service here.

 

I'm sure your doctor will change your meds if you feel they aren't working for you anymore.  You may have to have a few days break inbetween stopping the wellbutrin and starting a new antidepressant.

Hi Lizzy, I'm sorry to hear that you have chronic back pain. I too suffer with chronic migraine. Pain in itself is a depressant so don't be too hard on yourself. Is Wellbutrin the only med you have taken thus far? I was taking Lexapro (SSRI) and it was working great and then my psyche doc took me off of it because of the migraine med I take (antagonize each other and can be fatal). I was wondering how long you have been on the Wellbutrin because I am getting worse off of the Lexapro and only on the Wellbutrin. I wonder how the psyche docs determine which meds to prescribe. Wellbutrin works on Dopamine and does not work on serotonin. Maybe you will respond better to an SSRI. Feel better soon.

I have had the same surgery..........sounds like we are walking down the same path.  How is today going?
