Med comparison

Hey GettingBetter, Welcome to Healing Well forum, happy to have you join us.  As you know each medication goes through extensive controlled trial testing on various numbers of patients before it even hits the market and is approved by the FDA for regular usage.  To my knowledge I don’t know of anything that "compares" the different antid's and why a physician would prescribe one over the other in certain situations/scenarios.  There is much data on each antidepressant, side effects, adverse reactions and so on.  From my own experience of being a depressed person and taking these medications for over 16 yrs and also having worked in the mental health field for many yrs...it is a gamble either way when you start a new antidepressant.  All the data is there as to how it should work but, the doctor has no guarantees on how the medication is going to work for you as your body chemicals may break it down differently then others thus causing you to have a different reaction to the medication.  This is why when it comes to antidepressants it is widely known that "everyone reacts differently to these meds, and shouldn’t expect my experience to be your experience."
