Sertraline Hydrochloride?

Ive not been here in ages, as i thought i was dealing well. it turns out i havent. i have been to A & E twice in the past three weeks, due to anxiety and feeling like i was actually losing my mind. Why is it that when you tell a doctor that you feel like youre gonna lose it soon and youre on the edge of sanity they tell you that youre fine, and you should make an appointment with your GP??

I was highly stressed and felt like i was gonna do something stupid and they just looked at me like "what are you doing here?" like i was wasting their time!

anyway i visited my doc and he has changed my meds from fluoxetine (prozac) to this sertraline hydrochloride. I have never heard of it and wondered if anyone had? i know anti D's affect ppl differently but just thought id ask.

Hi Lilly,   Sertraline (zoloft) is an ssri, so its in the same group of antidepressants as the prozac that you are taking.  Many members here take zoloft and have had great success with it.  As with any antidepressant, it will take 4-6 weeks to work properly so give it time to fully kick in.   Im sorry you are having such a hard time with your anxiety.  I know how bad it can get so can relate to how you are feeling.  I use relaxation techniques when I feel anxious and they sometimes helps me.  The main thing I try to remember is that anxiety does go away and cannot harm me.  It reaches a peak and then comes back down.  I drum it into my head that it will go away eventually and this can help to groud me a bit as, at times I have felt like Im going crazy.   Below is a link to some info on sertraline.   http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/30002541/ Take care hun
