In my work I have to use the phone regularly and it's not as if answering phones is a problem for me, but at home when it rings, it's like I don't want to talk to anyone although I check the caller ID to see who's calling, if it's my family or work I rarely answer it, I just don't want to talk with them.  Is that just a bad habit I have or do others do this?

Nope, it's not just you. It takes too much energy to talk to people sometimes and be upbeat and pretend like nothing's wrong.... At least you have caller id!

I screen my calls also, love that caller id.

Before I had it caller ID I didn't answer the phone at all :-( Slowlygoingcrazy, that's exactly how I see it, I usually have to put such a happy face on at work so when, I'm at home I'd rather be myself and not put a front on.

I go through many days where I do not want to deal with anyone.I just do not answer my phone and then a couple of days later I might call them back.

Depression makes us hide out I think.

That's just what I do, I get days when I start feeling guilty so I pick up the phone and call them back :-)

Your certainly not on your own with this one! I too look at who is calling (The name appears on my mobile/cell) and if I dont want to talk, then I dont! I ring them back at my convenience. If they ring again staright away and I recognise the number as family then I answer it becuase its usually an emergency.

It's usually my family I wouldn't answer the phone to because the first thing they'll say is how are you? And I can't be bothered saying I'm fine, when the truth in the matter, Is that I'm weak and tired physically and mentally, I'm sick of life evolving round a stupid disease and taking all the meds then to top it all I get diagnosed with depression ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :-)

I'm sure you know the line of work I am in, and that my employers will know everything contained within my med docs, I was panicking in October when they discovered my heart is damaged, but now this it's just more ammunition for my employers to say "thanks for making the numbers up, here's your P45"
