I'd just like a break

Long story short....

Had a work injury, on and off work for a while, developed severe depression, didn't work for 18 months, developed fibromyalgia also.  Through processes related to workers comp, found new job, going well, they had a subsidy to employ me, hours increasing, boss happy.  I was improving their work processes, increasing productivity - small business - fitting in well.  Got 2 pay rises in 2 months.  Was told that if I had of been able to work full time, would have been offered the new managers position - thought everything was great.

Yesterday, got called in to the office - told they were "restructuring" and because I couldn't work full-time right now - goodbye.

I am soooooooooooo (*&^% angry!!! and soooooo upset.

I feel so used, and really let down.  This guy employed me on the full understanding of my situation - I was increasing my hours as my doc would let me - he was getting the subsidy for employing me - he was getting darn good value for money - and now this.

I'm gutted.

And what really gets my goat - apart from him being a b*&^ard - is that the subsidy he was getting will not be available to any other prospective employer - they only offer it once.

So how do I explain what's happened to any possible new employers.... ggrrrrrr

I just need a break - I thought I'd found it, and now I feel so let down.

I'm actually ok - funny how anger can fire you up lol - just not sure how I'll go about approaching prospective employers - but something will work out.

Hi Deb,

It makes me really angry to hear about these stories because the employers never treat the employee fairly. about a year ago there was a "management restructure" where I work and one of the guys (Who had given them 20+ years service was thrown to the side because he couldnt immediately fit into a role they wanted. I would explain this to potential employers as a form of redundancy. You had your old job "taken away" and you couldn't fit into the new role hence you were terminated.

I hope you manage to get something else soon. Perhaps a break is what you need?
