cymbalta and elavil

Hi all,

New to this forum I was put on elavil 10mgat 1st for ibs etc. now doc wants to add 20mg of cymbalta have any of you been on both ad's? Im a zombie on elavil but does help with sleep, ibs etc. thanks rush

Hi Jonny and Welcome to Healingwell!,

I just wanted to give you a big welcome to the forum and I hope you find all the support and answers that you want here. There are loads of people out there all with information from personal experience of some kind. I cant say that I have been on either drug to be honest but I know that when you start combining different drugs, it affects different people in different ways. Hopefully there is someone out there who has tried this combination who will post for you. Have you talked to your doctor about the combo?

Hi.... I hated elavil.... it was given to me as a nighttime pain med, because it was also an AD, but I took it for a few nights and while it helped me sleep, it also made me a zombie to the point of never actually coming off of it all the next day. I didnt know I wasnt supposed to drive, and I did and severl times fell asleep at the wheel at red lights... I would wake up with someone honking at me from behind, way scary. I never could function well enough on it to know if it helped with the depression, and I dont think it helped with pain....
