Hello everyone. I spend most of my time of the Crohn's and Chronic Pain Forums, but I also suffer from Depression. I've also got Ankylosing Spondylitis, a form of autoimmune, inflammatory arthritis. This has affectedd almost all of my joints and causes a great deal of pain.
about 18 months ago, I switched from Paxil to Cymbalta, hoping to get some additional relief from the nerve pain and the depression. I had done very well on Paxil, but after I was forced to stop working, it just wasn't enough anymore.
Cymbalta has worked very well for me so far, but I still battle both the depression and pain on a daily basis. On Friday, I had a follow up appt with my Promary Doc. He told me that the Drug Reps are now reporting that people who respond well to Cymbalta, but could use additional relief are now being titrated up to as much as 120 mgs. Since I fall into that catagory, he gave me a script for 30mg caps to add to my 60mgs. If I tolerate this well, we'll discuss going up to 120mgs later.
Since I have an inate need to research every med I take, I came home and began looking for info about the higher dosages of Cymbalta. All I can find are references in the Prescribing Information which state that dosages above 60mgs did ot produce better results. Now I'm confused, so I was hoping to find anyone else on one of these higher doses too.
Thanks for taking the time to read my novel. I hope you all are having a good evening. Be well.
