Hello Everyone,

I haven't been around since before the holidays, mainly because I've been really BAD and cheating on my diet so much! I've been really embarrassed to tell you guys how I've been sneaking a bit more than a few carbs here and there. I had a really scary incident in January, which led to a lot of cardio tests (all ok) and my doc putting me on a cholesterol med called tricor (I can't take statins) in addition to my zetia. So last Friday I went in for my bloodwork, and I just got the results back today. My A1C was 5.6 (which I wasn't expecting after being bad for 3 months) and my cholesterol, triglycerides, my entire lipid profile is almost normal! My cholesterol dropped about 50 points, but is down almost 100 points from my all time high a year ago. This is the first time my doc ever put a smiley face on my test results! I think even with my "cheating", my overall good results are from learning what foods to eat from you guys... so a big THANK YOU to all of you....

Hi stranger! Wow! Great news on those lab tests! They're doing the happy dance for you! Sometimes going off the food plan (somehow "diet" is like a dirty word) happens, so don't beat yourself up. I've done it just as everyone else has but then I get right back on track. You're fine!

Wow! That is awesome! Hey, don't stay away just because you think you're cheating and not worthy to be here!!! There's more to life than food. All, and I mean all, of us fight with this. Good grief, for many of us that's how we got into this pickle. And if we didn't screw it up on occasion....well, shoot, I haven't met anyone who is perfect. I got off of the plan and am still struggling to get back on. One day at a time...one day at a time. Good to see you back, bear.

If you read back in the posts I put one up that said, "Bless me friends for I have sinned..." It's a lifelong struggle and I believe that it's much more difficult in the dark days of winter. Something is triggered in our bodies that makes it difficult to stay on track... I mean, lets face it... 4th of July cookies never really caught on, right? At least not like the Christmas ones did!

It's just little choices all day long. Sometimes good, sometimes dumb but don't ever throw in the towel. Just make the next choice a better one. And it's definitely not something to avoid your friends over!!! We need you as much or more than you need us! If we all left the forum when we strayed it would be empty.

Congratulations on your 5.6. You must be doing better than you give yourself credit for. Glad to see you back.

Thank you all for the kind words and warm "welcome back"... I really am amazed that my numbers came back so good, but what Jeannie said about the little choices all day long... I think just having been here and learning some of those choices helped keep my numbers down even when I thought I was "pigging out"! I'll definitely be here a lot more often! I missed you guys!!
