1 year since I lost my legs

Dear Friends,

Today marks one year since both of my legs were amputated.  I continue to do well yeah    My diabetes is pretty much under control right now and has been since I lost my legs.  I got a new pair of glasses just after Thanksgiving and they do help me see better than before. yeah Getting around this winter with all the snow we have had has been very hard for me shakehead    The wheelchair is very hard to push through any amount of snow.  We have had a very snowy December this year, much more than we had the past several years.  Last winter I didn't worry about the snow, I spent most of it in the hospital first and then a spell in the nursing home getting accustommed to life without legs.  The snow was pretty much gone by the time I went home from the nursing home.  Everything else is going pretty well for my family and I. Wish you all a belated Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I want to wish you a "Happy Birthday" for adding this year to your life. If you had chosen to keep your legs we would never have met and you would be gone. I admire your unwavering courage and determination. Keep on keepin' on, girlfriend!

cool  i have another diabetic friend who lost one leg and will be loosing the other..i've had one artery replacement and need another in my other leg..if you were asking about in eye surgeries,i've been through 14 surgeries between both eyes back in the early 80's.without them i would have been blind by now..my Dr. gave me a valulim and vicodin before the surgeries and i also had to drive myself home, it was pretty easy. they've come along way since then.i do have some complications from the surgeries some started sooner some later, i get floaters and flash spots in my left eye,night driving is becoming harder,also going from light to dark or dark to light is getting difficult..talk to your Dr. about these,but i thank G-d because i still have my eye sight!! if you have any questions about eye surgeries contact me, i'm avraham5721  be Blessed

Linda, I admire you. You come here and talk about. You help others realize the consequences of what can happen if we dont take care of our diabetes.

My boyfriends brother who never took care of his diabetes wound up having his right leg amputated. He died a couple days later. I remember the night well. I remember the call, and the nightmares I had.

I also have 2 brothers and father who's diabetic. I remember the comatose nights where moms rubbing syrup in the mouth and I'm calling 911.

I'm the newest diagnosed (3 years ag0). I got the split the family in half joke. Theres 8 of us. I'm diabetic #4 of 4 diabetics lol.
