Friends,

Yesterday was my birthday, my 48th.  turn   shouldn't complain too much as my diabetes and other health concerns are under control, at least for now as we all hope for. :-) Nevertheless I am a bit depressed mad  , I know it will pass in a few days.  Probably when my husband come home on Friday. I've been off work all Summer and money is a bit tight.  My husband has a good job and I really don't need to work as I get a small disability check.  But I get bored just sitting around the house all day in my wheelchair with no real place to go. sad  That's what I did all day yesterday, feeling sorry for my self I guess.  I never even got dressed.  It's been almost seven years since I lost my legs to diabetes and forced to use a wheelchair for the rest of my life.  It gets real old sometimes.  Most of the time it's not so bad, I'm used to it, but being it was my birthday and my husband had to go out of town on business for the week.  Something he only does two or three times year thankfully.  I guess it just got me down.  My husband and my children did call and wish me happy birthday which was nice, but it would have been nicer if even just one of them had been here.  It's been a long week so far and can hardly wait until my husband gets home Friday night.  I know things will be better then. Sorry to bore you all, but I needed to vent a liitle. I think it helped a little just to air it out.

Hi Linda,

Happy birthday! I'm sorry your loved ones can't be with you today. I'm glad they called you on your special day...they love you and that's a wonderful thing. I can only imagine how it feels to be in a chair as you are...I hope your husband will come home soon and maybe you and he can celebrate your birthday even if it's passed when he gets in. I hope you will have a better rest of the day. I'm glad your diabetes and other health concerns are under control. Joni

Don't worry I've gone a full day before without anyone telling me happy birthday. nono

I have 3 brothers, a sister, two in-laws, 12 nieces and nephews..... you'd think someone would call. shakehead

To make matters worse, I share a house with my elderly parents and one of my nieces and they didn't say happy birthday to me. mad

Oh, well... that's enough venting.

Do you know why we celebrate birthdays? No... it's not to count the years we have lived... It's so that at least once a year we can take the time to celebrate your birth... In other words, I'M GLAD YOU WERE BORN!!!

Your sharing here has been so inspiring to me. You have had a tough go of it but you keep bouncing back and I admire you for that. I'm sorry that being alone makes you sad. I am living in a spacious 800 sq. ft. ranch with three other adults, a toddler and two dogs. Could I move in with you for a week or so? tongue We are mostly tripping over each other and trying to stay out of the way.

Do you do any hand work? I know your eyesight isn't the best but could you crochet or paint? When I work on stuff like that the hours just fly. Wish I could be more helpful, but I want you to know that I think of you often.. even though I can't get online much. Been doing 4 or 5 wedding cakes a weekend and I'm about frazzled out.

Thank You All for your kind words and birthday wishes. I appreciated them very much and feel much better today.

I had a call yesterday from the company I did some work for last winter.  Now granted it was kind of boring work, what work isn't.  They want me to stuff more envolopes for them starting some time in October. They deliver the flyers and such to my house and pick them up a few days or a week later depending on how many there are.  It's work I can do at home and I do make some money, although not alot doing it.  Every penny does help and it does pass the time very nicely.  I also see a couple different delivery people and can talk a bit with them a few times a week.  Last winter I worked at this 15 - 20 hours a week.  Sometimes a bit more.  I also talked to mt husband last night and he'll be home Friday afternoon sometime and he told me to be set to go out for dinner around six.  I knew he wouldn't forget about my birthday.  His trip just came at a bad time.
