Think I may have diabetes, someone help?

-Tired, sleeping all the time, no matter how much sleep i get, still feeling exhausted
-Dry mouth, feel the need to drink all the time
-Peeing like a maniac
-Feeling groggy
-Want to eat all the time

Do you think I have diabetes?
I am really scared to go to the doctors in case I do have it,

I am petrified of injections!!!!

Hi Pops,

Welcome to the forum. First, your symptoms can mean many things ... or nothing. Go see a doctor. We are not doctors here but we're friendly, helpful and experienced.

I too have my fears about injections and/or needles but take it from me, being tested for diabetes is not nearly as bad as we imagine. Get a professional opinion and report back. Tell us more about your situation and people will jump in to help.

Go and talk to your GP, you may have it but that doesn't mean you will be on injections. If you have type 2 then you could control it by tablets and diet or just by diet. Have you got a family history of it? My mum and sister have type 1 (injection only) but I have type 2 and control mine by diet and tablets. The GP will give you a blood test to see how much sugar is in your blood and will go from there. I had to change my diet when I became diabetic and it's one of the best things I've ever done.

Pops, as Chris and Lee are saying, you need to see your doctor to figure this all out.  It may not be diabetes at all.  To determine if it is, they would probably take some blood in the lab on a couple of occasions to see how your blood sugar is.  But you need to see a doctor in order to find this out.  Not knowing if you are diabetic or not might make you worry needlessly.

I even had to start insulin with my diabetes and after the first injection... no problem. It's kind of like jumping off the diving board when you are a kid. Scared to death before you do it and afterward it's like... Hey! I can do it!

If you are diabetic chances are you may not even need insulin. Get your doc to check you out, keep us posted and we will help all we can.

Hi. These posts are "old" but I wanted to add something in case one day you may check back here. Definitely seek help from your doctor first and foremost. Until you find out, quiet your mind and try not to stress even though it is very stressful. As a diabetic, I know that there are various options to control it. Meds, insulin along with a good diet and exercise. A little note about insulin - I too am scared of needles and I was pleasantly surprised that they make the injections less painful than they did long ago. I used an insulin pen with such a teeny tip that I could hardly feel it. I'm here sending you supportive vibes so please go, find out what is going on. The sooner you find out the better your doctor can get you feeling better!
