Ok...I know I'm gonna get reemed but here goes.... I was DX'ed with Type 2 March of 09. My first A1C was 12.5 and my blood levels were running aroung 280-350.... Now, after a year and after having my levels run anywhere from 160-300 and my A1C actually went down to 7.5....I'm now having problems with my meds....last week my level was 198 and my A1C went up to 9.7..... I have been taking Metformin Er and Glipizide for most of the year....now I am having tummy troubles and want to stop taking the pills and start taking regular insulin... I started taking Lantus 7 months ago starting at 15 units at night...I am up nto 70 units at night with no help it seems.... I go back to the Dr. on the 24th and that's when I am asking to take insulin and stop taking the pills....What do you think? He upped me from 60 units when he got my latest A1C results...
I read an article in Diabetic Living magazine that talks about how taking insulin early on is ok....with T2 Diabetes....my Dr. has been against it from the start, but I'd rather take a couple of shots a day and get my blood levels down then keep taking these pills and getting sick every day....
I know that most people would rather not do shots of insulin, but not me. That seems like it would help me better then the shots. And I already take so many pills each day for other health issues that getting rid of a few seems like Heaven to me...
So???????
