I'm on Zocor. Not because I have high cholesterol but my doctor wants it extremely low because of the risk of heart attack and stroke with diabetes. I take 20 mg a day and I haven't had a problem with it concerning my diabetes.
If you do take a statin, ask your doctor about taking CoQ10. It's an enzyme that's in our bodies and statin drugs deplete your body of this. You usually get muscle cramping. That happened to me. I talked to my doctor about CoQ10 and he had me stop the statins for one month, take 200 mg. of CoQ10 a day and then, after the month passed, start the statins again. The cramping went away and I am fine with this supplement.
