Maybe but there would be other symptoms if you had an infection like burning, itching, urgency, pain.

Is your blood sugar under control?  When blood sugar is very high and uncontrolled, it sometimes spills into the urine creating that sweet smell.

You should see you doctor to see what's going on.

You should talk to your regular doctor and tell him/her what's going on.  The office may be able to help.  Check out the social services in your area for help in medical care.  It's a possibility.  Are you on unemployment?  Can you apply for it?  And Medicaid?

In the meantime, try to stay away from carbs if you can.

Maybe contact the diabetes association they might have free test strips or meters for uninsured

If you live in Oregon, go to OHSU to the diabetic clinic in the Physician's Pavilion. OHSU not only will write off many of their expenses, but they will also give you a bloodtest kit and strips for free. They will help you apply for insurance too. It's a wonderful clinic. When I lost my job, they helped me keep my diabetes in check with free supplies and appointments.

Diabetes can cause bs to go out of control. When bs are in control urine will not have a sweet odor.
