Probably. I also have the Bayer Contour Meter. In fact, I have four! One was prescribed and I got three free from the maker's website years ago. The oldest one takes 15 seconds and the other three take 5 seconds. Unfortunately, this meter doesn't rate well on tests by Consumers Reports. Here is a summary of the latest results:
https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=20&m=2527437I just changed to the Accu-chek Aviva, but I have to say I've taken my blood sugar three times in a row with it and there were about 10 points difference between highest and lowest number. (That's nothing compared to your results!)
Your results seem really wacky! From 166 down to 82! Wow! So, you might be better off with a meter that rated better on their tests.
Keep in mind that the industry says these meters are allowed to be up to 10% 'off' in accuracy.
