Loraina,
Truth is, it sounds like you really do need medication and a good diabetes specialist. Ask your doctor about diabetes classes at your local hospital.
For a quick fix to get your blood sugars down without medication, you need to go very low carb. That means no dairy except regular full cream. No bread, cereals, fruit, grains, rice, pasta, potatoes. Especially NO SWEETS. One small cheat will keep your blood sugar up for an entire day or more. Look at your packages. Try to eat under 10-15 carbs per meal.
In addition to the diet, do some aerobics. I have found the best way to control blood sugars is a brisk walk after each meal for about 10-15 minutes. A small glass of wine or tea with artificial sweetner and about two TBS apple cider vinegar will also lower your blood sugar about 20 points.
This can be maintained indefinately but its not easy. Getting all your nutrients on a very low carb diet is very challenging, though it can be done. Most people opt to eat a more normal diet and go on medication.
Which ever you choose, get control of your diabetes ASAP. It will only get worse and the complications are tragic.
Best of Luck, Lisa
