Do you check your blood sugar throughout the day? If so, you would realize that lots of fruit will raise your blood sugar significantly.
My doc told me when I was first dx'd that fasting blood sugar in the morning should be 110 or less. 2 hours postprandial (after a meal) 140 or less and to strive for a goal of 120 average daily.
I eat a little fruit, more veggies, protein, fats and as much fiber as I can stand. I usually eat a packet of oatmeal in the morning but if I want a fiber cereal, I put berries and some Splenda on it. Berries and apples are good fruits for diebetics but in moderation. They are low to medium on the glycemic scale.
I would basically check the blood sugar up to 6 times a day to start and then you will get a feel for what to eat and what to avoid.
