Byetta first timer

Hi all, My name is Joy and I started Byetta 5 pen on Tuesday of this week. I am not on any meds for diabetes, my dr just want to help control it with byetta. It is working great but I am so nausated that I want to stop taking it. Has anyone else had this side effect and how long did it last. I guess i am a wimp when it comes to this side effect. Thanks for any input.

Hi Joy,

What were your blood sugar numbers before going onto the byetta? 

Im really surprised that your doctor put you on Byetta without supplemental medication.  However, if it works that what counts.  The nausea will pass, so just curl up with the tv or a book and try to tough it out.  Eventually it is going to go away.  I will tell you that if you eat higher protein and less carbs, at least initially when you are taking the Byetta, this seems to lessen the nausea.  I have no side effects from Byetta, but if I go over indulge on pizza, I will get a wave of slight nausea, so the Byetta is telling me, "hey, go easy on your carb load".
