So, I am thinking about quitting the Byetta...as it should be...side effects should lessen as time goes on with this stuff...mine seems to be getting worse...I can't handle it...I almost puked and passed out in the mall today...this was around 1230 which was 2 hours after my shot...uggg...I can't live not knowing how it is going to effect me....grrrrrr eyes

My son tried Byetta and he complained about stomach pain. He just stopped taking it. I don't know one person who has been able to take that med without side effects yet. I can't take it because I'm on Reglan for gastroparesis. So my endo said yes, I shouldn't take it. At first he wanted me to until he remembered about the gastroparesis I have.

I understand your pain! I was completely bedridden for weeks from the nausea. I threw up almost every time I ate. I had horrible nausea and also burning headaches. It just wouldn't stop no matter what I did. I couldn't function. I couldn't go anywhere and when I did I took grocery bags with me for the times I had to puke in my car! It was awful. My mom thought I was bulemic.

All that has gone away now. I'm still on Byetta! My doc asked me to experiment and take Byetta one day and Metformin the next, but not both at once. I felt fine each day! So we discontinued the Metformin and I'm on the lowest dose of Amaryl once a day. I've felt perfect ever since and my bg's are even better.

Are you on Metformin too? I think because Metformin causes opposite side effects. Metformin causes diarrhea. Byetta causes constipation. So the combo has very very ill side effects.

OK...so here is what the Dr. said to do...cut down to 1 shot of 5 micrograms per day...we will see how this works...wish me luck!

Im one of those people that has never had a side effect from Byetta, (well almost never-had nausea from to much pizza).  However, it your body isn't getting used to it but on the other hand it is getting progressively worse, you may be building an alergic reaction to it rather than a tolerance.  Im not sure your doctors approach is going to help, but its worth a shot.

Im wishing you nausea free days!
