At least to me they look like pretty good prices.... 100 freestyle strips for about 50 bucks... Thats 1/2 what the drug store charges...

THese prices are about as good as ebay and you arent taking any chances...

Also anyone know of a good Canada pharmacy??? I have been using lifhaus pharmacy...

www.lifhaus.ca or something... I think you can save about 15% over the USA cost...

Anyone else have some places with good prices....??? I think that may make a good thread.. We all need to save money for anything not covered by insurance. Or those of us without insurance at all... bc our employer decided they couldnt afford it.. And then not offered anything to replace it. THen being out in the cold because when you were diagnosed with diabetes you had group coverage. Now no one will touch you for anything.... My rant is over now. THanks for listening... :)

I use sharpmeds.com for all of my meds except insulin which must be refrigerated. This company draws from many different countries such as India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada and more. The pills come in bubble packs, each one in it's own bubble. The prices on their meds for all health problems run about 1/3 of American prices. One of my meds is $288 here and from India costs me $89. As it turns out this med is working better than it's American counterpart for my sugars. Another forum member told me about this and it's been a lifesaver for me without any med insurance.

I get my (Lantus) insulin from Sams Club, $60 a bottle vs. $90 at Walgreens. I understand that Costco has awesome drug prices as well. We just don't have one in our town yet.

If there is a member who has time to do the research, there are drug companies and others who offer free or low cost meds but there are so many different set-ups I don't have time to track them all down. Anyone who knows of such a program could post it here and we could have them all in one place.

SharpMeds is a great site.  I used to use avandia which is ridiculously expensive.  It is simply not available in the US in generic form yet as it is still protected by patents here.  However, south of the border you can get its generic equivalent for not a lot of money and when I didn't have insurance and didn't have the money to pay for it, thats what I did through Sharp Meds.  By in large, I feel a drug company has the right to recoup the huge costs that it incurs in R&D and marketing to bring a new drug to market, but at the same time I don't have a problem with a diabetic doing what they have to do to get the meds they need if they aren't affordable here in the US.

SharpMeds gets my vote.

On the lifehaus website, was I correct when I read you can purchase three vials of Humalog for $100 dollars and three vials of R for $73?

That can't be right...that is WAY to good to be true. I don't believe it...

A vial of Humalog by itself now runs around $60 bucks and R around $40. I just don't believe any company would sell it for much cheaper then that. I just for some reason have a bad feeling...not too mention the website dosent' require an RX for Humalog? That isn't even legal in the U.S and RX is required for Humalog (at least last time I checked and used it which was a few years ago) You could probably get into trouble for that.

No, I wouldn't trust it. The cheapest insulin I have found is at the Wal-Mart pharmacy, I think I have picked R there for under $30 bucks and I am Humalog runs much cheaper there also. So if someone wants cheaper insulin I always suggesst they try there. Syringes are also cheap, about $11 bucks for a box which is a steller deal considering most go for around $23 bucks now.

I am not trying to be negative I just have a weary feeling about purchasing insulin offline, having shipped in with no RX needed, from a foreign country. I don't know any IDDM's who have done that ever and I have been IDDM for almost ten years.

Ya know, just because your skeptical dosen't mean those prices aren't real and the drugs are real. Canada and Mexico have been delivering drugs made from FDA certified labs in generic form at unbelievable prices for some time. Rosiglitizone - the generic for AVANDIA is ONLY available in generic form offshore. It works as well as the branded US drug and costs only about a third of what it costs here in the US. This is a fact! I've bought and used the generic!...Canada can ship things overnight to the US and they have a very stable meds program. Lifehaus happens to be a real pharmacy with a REAL warehouse. So why do you think that they sell bogus Humalog? Because you can't believe that you can buy drugs that cheaply?

I live in Deep South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, just 4 miles from the Mexican border.  We chose the location 12 years ago because of cheap medicine and cheap cigarettes. 

Things have changed!  Prices for medicine in Mexico have increased, year by year, so that now I am almost as well off buying from the AARP Pharmacy.  Metformin from AARP is $40/month - it's $32 across the border.  By the time we pay tolls coming and going, have lunch, burn some expensive gas, etc.. we're better off staying home and ordering our meds. 

Same for tobacco.  Not that the product price has increased, but state taxes (under Gov. George W) went up, then federal taxes (under Pres. George W) went up.  There's only about $1 difference now in generic brands.

We don't typically buy liquor, but those taxes have gone way up, too.

What is interesting, tho, is that our population quadruples in the winter.  The RV parks, motels, apartments, are full of folks from "up north" and Canada ... and they all buy meds in Mexico.  Warm temps (never below freezing) are reason enough to come, going to Mexico for fun is reason enough, but I don't see the economy in making numerous trips across the border to pick up medicine, liquor and tobacco.

Thanks for the sites mentioned in previous posts.  We'll check them out.  Husband has Medicare Part D, but I don't have insurance that covers prescriptions.
