Hi there,
Internet has become a trusted Search weapon and provides up to date research results PROVIDED the search is conducted properly and the results obtained have the authenticity and backing of the researchers themselves. So,publishing from "internet search"is no sin and in fact is as educative as perusing medical journals.
In America a research program called the Diabetes Prevention Program or DPP was concluded in 2001,but the genetic connection was let out only in 2006 as follows:"Researchers have confirmed that a gene variant confers susceptibility to type 2 diabetes in participants of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), a large clinical trial in adults at increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The finding, published in the July 20, 2006, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, follows the discovery by deCode Genetics that a variant in a gene called TCF7L2 predisposes people to type 2 diabetes"
