Byetta and beer

My husband and I have been on Byetta for about 2 weeks. Andy drank 2 beers yesterday about 1 hour after taking his Rx and has suffered indigestion since then. We were just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms? Other than that, he has only had very mild gas associated with Byetta.

Hi Dino! Just saw your post and wanted to at least reply! I have been taking Byetta for about 3 months...love it! I have had an occasional beer and havent had a problem with indigestion per se, but felt VERY full so one was definitely my limit! Which is a good thing right? LOL Good luck to both of you with the Byetta....it has been a wonder drug for me!

I have gas too but luckily it isn't the stinky kind, lol.

The manufacturers of Byetta, the Mayo Clinic and a bunch of other peeps recommend that you not drink alcohol while using byetta because of possible low blood sugar episodes. If you are taking other diabetic medications as well as the byetta you may cause liver problems since alcohol, medications and blood glucose are all handled by the liver. I just wanted to post this for anyone who is unclear about alcohol choices. I know we all cheat once in a while but it isn't recommended because of all the additional problems it brings to the table. Just being the local party pooper here.
