Back on Nov 11, I had the Glucose Tolerance test, and today I asked my doc for my numbers. He was more than happy to give me copies of the lab report, said it shows I'm serious about
getting my levels down and that I want to stay in control of my diabetes.
These are the numbers (bear in mind these numbers are according to the Canadian standard testing)
AlC: 5.5 (normal is 4.8-6.2)
2 Hr. Fasting: 6.2 (norm 3.6-6.0)...just a little over the norm
Load: 75 (whatever that is???)
2hr: 11.6 (3.6-7.7)...quite a bit over the norm
Notes from the Lab Dr reads: "Confirmatory testing on a second occasion may be needed to establish diagnosis in the absence of acute symptoms"
My doc said he is surprised the AlC is normal but the 2 hr testing indicates I might have just developed the disease. My first instinct was to say, maybe I don't have diabetes and that the fasting test was inaccurate. Is that possible?
Keeping in mind what the Lab Dr wrote, I am hoping that my thought is right. Or am I still in denial? I will most likely have to wait until Feb 11 to have the 3 month AlC done again to confirm yea or nay. Anybody have an opinion?
Here is the conversion chart, if anyone wants to compare readings from Canadian to American
