Hi 4sons,
The one thing to understand about
the "physiology of all this", or should I say, your metabolism, is that the body is pretty quick to deal with the energy coming in (i.e. food and raising blood sugar) but not necessarily so quick with the expending of it (i.e. exercise or medication to bring sugars down).
As Jeannie mentioned, your stressful day could have been a reason for your sugars to be elevated in the first place. You didn't test before eating the candy so you'll not know just how much or how little your blood sugar was affected by it. That you were at 94 less than an hour after eating the candy is a good thing but as Chutsman says, it could have started to come down just from the first exercise. Or... it could also be that the candy you ate had "expired" (meaning, it did it's job in TEMPORARILY raising your blood sugar; making it "spike", like it's supposed to). Could be that your last meal had "expired" and that your body would be looking for more food soon - you were going to have dinner within the next couple hours, ya?
The exercise may have helped some but the thing with exercise is that it can have an effect on your blood sugars (metabolism) for hours afterwards and doesn't usually have the immediate effect you might be looking for. I wish even insulin could work that fast
Try not to stress too much about
your numbers; you really are doing fab. Seems to me like you've got a good handle on things already and your desire to understand more will reward you with a better and better understanding of your own body. Hope you're keeping a log of everything so you can spot patterns? As Jeannie says, "KOKO!"
