One reason I love my pump!

The other night I was cooking dinner.  I was about 10 minutes from putting it on the table when I heard my daughter calling me from upstairs.  I could hear something wrong in her voice.  I went running to find her sitting at the top of the stairs.  I asked her what was wrong and she said she had fallen.  She was in terrible pain and couldn't get up.  I could not get her down the stairs.  We ended up having to call an ambulance for her.  I rode in the ambulance with her and spent hours sitting by her at the hospital.  Dinner was left sitting.  Finally after hours at the hospital we were able to get some food.  On mdi's it would have been a problem that I couldn't eat.  With my pump I just didn't bolus until I was ready to eat something.

She's not so little! She's 5'10" and 14 years old. She has a bad sprain. She broke that same leg 2 years ago. She said the sprain is much more painful. She has stopped taking the darvocet now and is taking ibuprofen.

I have had diabetes since I was eleven years old. I have one child who is completely healthy and one child who has disabilities. They were not caused by my diabetes. At least that is what all the doctors have told me.

She is deaf which we believe is genetic. There is a history of hearing loss all over the family. She has cerebral palsy which most likely was caused by her trying to be born sideways. (lack of oxygen) She also has agenesis of the corpus callosum which is a rare brain defect. It is so rare and random that nobody knows what causes it. It is the same condition that the man that the movie "Rain Man" is about has. My daughter is higher functioning and very social. She also does not have a high level of savant syndrome, although she exhibits it in a mild form. (She's better than a calendar for remembering dates.)

Maybe I am and nobody told me! LOL
